SoHo's cast-iron loft buildings on Greene Street, Broome Street, and Mercer Street hold some of Manhattan's most original stone. We restore the marble floors, walls, and countertops inside them — since 1994.
SoHo Stone Care
SoHo is Manhattan's cast-iron district — a landmarked neighborhood where 19th-century industrial buildings were converted into lofts, galleries, and boutiques. Those conversions kept remarkable stone: original marble thresholds, stone stair treads, terrazzo landings, and marble fireplace surrounds that have survived 150 years.
Manhattan Stone Care has been restoring stone in SoHo since 1994. We work throughout the SoHo-Cast Iron Historic District — Greene Street, Broome Street, Mercer Street, Prince Street, Spring Street, and West Broadway — plus the residential co-ops on the edges of the district.
We perform marble repair (cracks, chips, scratches, etching, stains), marble restoration, and marble polishing of floors, walls, and countertops — plus grout cleaning and color sealing, and countertop protection.
SoHo presents particular challenges. Many buildings are landmarked, so stone must be conserved rather than swapped out. Freight elevators and building schedules need coordination. Galleries and retail spaces need work done outside business hours. We handle certificate of insurance requirements, off-hours scheduling, dust containment, and protection of surrounding surfaces — so the building is left exactly as we found it, only better.
